On September 24, 2015, Iraqi-British Architect Zaha Hadid, became the first female winner of the Royal Institute of British Architects´ royal gold medal. It was after Jean Nouvel, Frank Gehry or Oscar Niemeyer.

She studied mathematics at the American University of Beirut before moving to London in 1972 to attend the Architectural Association (AA) School where she was awarded the Diploma Prize in 1977...

She was made Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Fellow of the American Institute of Architecture and Commander of the British Empire, 2002 and was the Eero Saarinen Visiting Professor of Architectural Design at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut.
Other awards include UNESCO naming Hadid as an “˜Artist for Peace´, the Republic of France honouring Hadid with the “˜Commandeur de l´Ordre des Arts et des Lettres´, TIME magazine included her in their list of the “˜100 Most Influential People in the World´ and in 2012, Zaha Hadid was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.

Zaha Hadid was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, considered the Nobel Prize of architecture, in 2004.

Zaha Hadid is the founder of Zaha Hadid Architects, headquartered in London, she ranked 69th on the Forbes list of “˜The World's 100 Most Powerful Women´ in 2008.
She has a famous Quote :

"There is a discourse between architects and designers. This may be privy to those people and may not affect the public for a long time (in built form), but it's important for that research to take place because eventually it does have a trickling effect. So that's what really drives me."

She is 'consistently pushes the boundaries of architecture and urban design. Her work experiments with spatial quality, extending and intensifying existing landscapes in the pursuit of a visionary aesthetic that encompasses all fields of design, ranging from urban scale through to products, interiors and furniture.'

- Maxxi art gallery in Rome
- Olympic stadium in Tokyo
- The Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku
- The Guangzhou Opera House in China

The practice recently completed the Investcorp Building for Oxford University´s Middle East Centre at St Antony´s College and is currently working on a diversity of projects worldwide including the New National Stadium for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the Sleuk Rith Institute in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and 520 West 28th Street in New York.
