The best-selling author Jackie Collins endured a private battle with cancer and died in Los Angeles on Saturday, 19th September. "It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one-of-a-kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today,...She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over four decades," her family said in a statement.
Jackie Collins was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer six-and-a-half years ago. Jackie Collins had kept her battle largely a secret from her family, including Joan until two weeks ago. Instead, she had confided in her children, Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46.

She gave her last interview to PEOPLE magazine "I've written five books since the diagnosis, I've lived my life, I've travelled all over the world, I have not turned down book tours and no one has ever known until now when I feel as though I should come out with it...Now I want to save other people's lives."

Jackie Collins revealed she was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer six and a half years ago in her final interview with the magazine.
The family requests that any donations in lieu of flowers be made out to the Penny Brohn Cancer Care charity in the UK and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Organisation in the United States.

The English author of 40-plus years was best known for writing novels, 500 million copies of which have been sold worldwide, about glamorous Hollywood lifestyles. Her latest book, "The Santangelos," hit bookstores in June.

During her interview on the ITV show on September 10th, Jackie revealed her hopes of getting Oscar-winning star Angelina Jolie to star in a movie adaptation of one of her books.
