USPA NEWS - Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson is in negotiations to play legendary diva Aretha Franklin in a biopic, from the producer of box office hit Straight Outta Compton, that is set to arrive in United States in 2017...
According to TheWrap, the Dreamgirls star is the favourite to play the Grammy-winning soul singer and a representative for Hudson has confirmed that conversations have been taking place. The film will centre on Franklin´s rise to fame in the 1960s and 1970s.

After winning the best supporting actress Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson has appeared in different films such as : the first "Sex and the City" movie, "The Three Stooges" and "Black Nativity". She will next be seen in Spike Lee´s "Chiraq" and HBO movie Confirmation, alongside Kerry Washington.
Back in 2011, Aretha Franklin herself was wishing Halle Berry to play the lead in a planned biopic of her life, even though the Oscar-winning actress has said she does not have the voice to carry off the role.

In October, 2014, Aretha Franklin gave an interview to the Wall Street Journal and she said : “There´s several people that we´re considering. Audra McDonald is one. Audra has a great voice. And she´s Broadway-oriented, but she is an actress... The question where Audra´s concern is whether or not she could deal with soul as I sing it. But she´s an actress, and so it would be her job to meet that challenge“¦“
Multiple Grammy winner and "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin is known for such hits as "Respect," "Freeway of Love" and "I Say a Little Prayer." In 1987, she became the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With 18 Grammys under her belt, Franklin is regarded as one of the most honored artists in Grammy history, ranked among the likes of Alison Krauss, Adele and Beyoncé Knowles.
