Lake Aiguebelette is one of only a few natural rowing courses in FRANCE. Situated at the foot of the Epine Mountains, which seperate the Chambéry Bassin and Lake Bourget from the Avant Pays Savoyard and the plains to the East of Lyon. The layout of the course and the depth of the water provide excellent racing conditions. Lake Aiguebelette hosted the 1997 World Rowing Championships and the 2014 World Rowing Cup II.
The World Rowing Championship Awards are as follow :
- World Rowing Female Crew of the Year
- World Rowing Coach of the Year
- Distinguished Services to Rowing Award
- World Rowing Male Crew of the Year
- World Rowing Para-Rowing Crew of the Year

The IOC (International Olympic Committe) Athlete Career Programme was launched in 2005 to help elite and Olympic athletes to successfully manage the transition from sport to a new career through professional development and job placement support. The programme is delivered in over 30 countries. Including Youth Olympics Games athletes, who participated in courses on the importance of time management and balancing sport and education, the programmme has reached athletes from more than 100 countries
