USPA NEWS - ERTICO ““ ITS Europe is multi-sector, public/private partnership pursuing the development & deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems & Services (ITS). It focuses on initiatives to improve road safety, security & network efficiency whilst taking into account measures to reduce environmental impact.
ERTICO ““ ITS Europe, ITS America and ITS Japan are the initiators and organisers of the ITS World Congresses.

Since 1994, in Europe, the World Congresses have been organised by ERTICO-ITS Europe with its Partners in close cooperation with the European Commission the local Host, ITS America and ITS Asia Pacific.

The official language of the Congress is English and all speeches will be delivered in English. A selected number of sessions will be conducted in French.

The following topics will be covered :

- Space technologies and services for ITS
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning and timing services are widely used today by all modes of transport.
- Cooperative ITS deployment challenges
The infrastructure for mobility, transport, journeys and services is becoming increasingly intelligent. In addition the different aspects of infrastructure, such as roads, waterways, railroads, terminals, fixed and mobile communication networks, are becoming interconnected and integrated.
- Multimodal transport for people and goods
Enhancement and better use of multimodality can make transport systems more sustainable in terms of cost-effectiveness, efficiency and environmental-friendliness.
- Urban trends driving ITS changes
In changing world cities must respond to multiple challenges (eg environmental, economic, demographic).
- Solutions for sustainable mobility
It is unwelcome fact that transport systems are significant contributors to greenhouse gases and air pollution.
- Automated Roads, Automated Management, Automated Driving
Automation is emerging as a key ITS innovation. It can improve efficiency, reduce fraud, help overall service management and contribute to service and policy outcomes.
