The Artist Thierry FONTAINE is hosted by the Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain MARSEILLE (FRAC) which is part of a network of 23 public collections of Contemporary Art across FRANCE. They are funded both regionally and nationally. FRAC was founded by Culture Minister Jack Lang, as part of a decentralization policy to move aspects of governance out to regional governments. Starting in 1982, regional funds were set up to promote and encourage Contemporary Art by forming regional collections, and engaging in outreach to Local Communities and Cultural Institutions. This quickly grew to 23 regional collections.

Patrick VAN CAECKENBERGH 'Les Nébuleuses - Mon tout : Les étourdissements'. Exhibition March 04 to June 05, 2017 at FRAC. Displaying an impressive compilation of texts and images, the Flemish artist´s work arouses surprise through its capacity to constantly create wonder based on an iconography that is digested, recycled and classified to infinity. Taking himself as an object of study, focusing on his anxieties on his place in the world and in his relationship with others, he succeeds in expressing the precarious responses to this anxiety-ridden vastness....

Known to the ancient Greeks and Romans as MASSALIA, MARSEILLE was the most important trading centre in the region and the main commercial port of the French Republic. Marseille is now France's largest city on the Mediterranean coast and the largest port for commerce, freight and cruise ships. The city was European Capital of Culture, together with Košice, Slovakia, in 2013. It hosted the European Football Championship in 2016, and is the European Capital of Sport in 2017.
With its beaches, History, Architecture and Culture, MARSEILLE is one of the most visited cities in FRANCE. In 2012 MARSEILLE hosted the World Water Forum. Several urban projects have been developed to make the City attractive. Thus new Parks, Museums, Public Spaces and Real Estate projects aim to improve the city 'Cadre de Vie'. Because of its pre-eminence as a Mediterranean Port, MARSEILLE has always been one of the main gateways into FRANCE. This has attracted many immigrants and made the City a cosmopolitan melting pot.
